Samsung is emerging as the most aggressive and the fastest growing brand in the mobile phone market. Recently, Samsung has already surpassed the amount of sales Apple had done, and this magnanimous work by Samsung makes it the biggest brand in the phone market. This was the analysis on global basis. Now in India too, Samsung is doing a great piece of work. It ranks number 2 in sales of mobile phones after Nokia (all time).
Nokia once ruled the globe but as the brands like Apple, HTC, Samsung, Blackberry started growing up Nokia went down. Nokia still holds a good impression on the mind of people of India, both quality and quantity-wise. Ranjit Yadav, head of Samsung India’s Mobile and IT Business said, “Part of the battle is already won; we will become number one next year,” this statement makes it clear that Samsung wants to dominate the Indian phone market too and wants to rejigger the mind of people of India.
Samsung has given phones like Samsung Galaxy S 2 , Samsung Wave, Samsung Galaxy Y and much more to the people of India and perhaps this thing has started yielding fruitful results for Samsung – after all Samsung’s annual growth is well over 70% and Samsung also holds 32.3% share in Smartphone market.
On the other hand Nokia seems to rely on past, as a spokeswoman of Nokia said, “Based on the figures from all third-party analysts, Nokia leads all India smartphone market both in volume and value terms”. Nokia has even dismantled several of its factories in India axing thousands of jobs!
Saurabh Uboweja, director at brand consulting and design firm Brands of Desire (BOD) said, “Samsung has champion products for each price segment and it seems to always have a few extra options more than any competitor in that space” The views of Saurabh Uboweja seems to exactly fit in the situation and certainly that is why people are getting more attracted towards brands like Samsung, HTC, Apple etc.
Tackling the situation and dodging hard attacks from Samsung, Nokia recently launched the Nokia Lumia series of phones. Lumia series phones are windows based phones and are currently the only hope for Nokia to get back in the smartphone, rather phone market.
What do you think, will Samsung be able to knock down Nokia? Will Nokia face a cruel death? Tell us through your precious comments.
