Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus vs Samsung Galaxy Ace – Comparison cum Differences

Samsung has launched its first ever smartphone in 2012. Actually the phone released is the one which we never expected but we should always expect the unexpected. Samsung has announced Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus exactly after the 1 year of the announcement of Samsung Galaxy Ace.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is the successor of Samsung Galaxy Ace. Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is expected to launch in the market this February. Now, let us check out “Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus vs Samsung Galaxy Ace – Comparison cum Differences”. This post will also act a comparison between these two phones. So here it goes.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus vs Samsung Galaxy Ace

Form Factor

Nothing much has been changed in this catalog. The size of Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is 3.65inches while the size of Samsung Galaxy Ace is 3.5inches. Both the phones still have TFT capacitive touchscreen, TouchWiz UI, multi-touch support etc.

But a negative point of Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is that its pixel density has been reduced to 158ppi which was 165ppi in case of Samsung Galaxy Ace but I think we can compromise that much for 0.15inch increase in screen. Dimensions of Samsung Galaxy Ace are 114.5 x 62.5 x 11.2 mm while the dimensions of Samsung Galaxy Ace are 112.4 x 59.9 x 11.5 mm. Clearly, Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is a bit sleeker, longer and wider.

Winner – Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus

Processor

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus – 1GHz

Samsung Galaxy Ace – 800MHz ARM11

There is a huge difference between these two processors. Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is having a mighty 1GHz processor while Samsung Galaxy Ace is having a 800MHz processor. There is difference of almost 200MHz or 0.2GHz in these two phones and this small difference can turn out to be huge.

Winner – Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus

Display

Display size of both the size is already mentioned in the Form Factor catalog of this post. Display screen of Samsung Galaxy Ace is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass while the protecting screen of Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is yet not unveiled. Nothing else is left to be compared in this catalog so there will be a tie.

Winner – Tie

Camera

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus – 5MP primary camera, LED flash, autofocus etc

Samsung Galaxy Ace – 5MP primary camera, LED Flash, autofocus etc

The camera too is exactly same in both the phones. Primary camera is 5MP, with features like autofocus, LED flash etc. There is no secondary camera in both the phones. We can even record videos from both the phones in QVGA format at the speed of 15 frames per second.

Winner – Tie

Operating System

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus – Android v2.3 (Gingerbread)

Samsung Galaxy Ace – Android v2.2 (Froyo)

There is quite a fair difference between the operating systems of both these phones. Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is having, clearly, a better OS than Samsung Galaxy Ace. Although the OS of Samsung Galaxy Ace is upgradeable to Android v2.3 yet I don’t think it will defeat Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus because Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus comes with Gingerbread from factory and it is also possible that ICS will be made available for it soon.

Winner – Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus

Data Connectivity

Data connectivity features too of both these phones are same. Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus and Samsung Galaxy Ace support GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Hotspot, USB v2.0, 3G on HSDPA 900 / 2100 bands. The only difference lies between the Bluetooth version. Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is having Bluetooth v3.0 while Samsung Galaxy Ace is having Bluetooth v2.1. Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus’s Bluetooth is comparatively faster than that of Samsung Galaxy Ace.

Winner – Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus

Memory

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus – 3 GB internal, 512 MB RAM

Samsung Galaxy Ace – 158 MB internal, 278 MB RAM

There is a gigantic difference between the memories of these two phones. Samsung Galaxy Ace is having a poor 158MB internal memory while its successor is having almost 30 times more memory! The RAM of Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus too is almost double. The expandable memories of both the phones is same, 32GB via microSD card. The winner is quite obvious.

Winner – Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus

Battery

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus – Standard battery, Li-Ion 1300 mAh

Samsung Galaxy Ace – Standard battery, Li-Ion 1350 mAh

We know that the power of Samsung Galaxy Ace’s battery is more than that of Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus’s battery but we must not forget that power is not everything. In quite a lot cases we see that the batteries with lesser power runs more than the batteries more power. The time for which Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus can run on different modes is yet to be revealed so we can’t say anything.

Winner – Tie

Price

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus – Expected Rs.15,000

Samsung Galaxy Ace – Rs.13,990

The expected price of Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is based on our team’s analysis so we can’t be completely dependent on it. Samsung Galaxy Ace on the other hand is available in the market with the price of Rs.13,990. The choice at the end is all yours so I can’t judge this section.

Winner – Tie

Final Verdict

Samsung has brought major changes in Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus and those changes are some great changes. Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus is having far better specifications than Samsung Galaxy Ace. Had I to choose between these two phones, I would have gone with Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus because it won’t be priced at too higher price than Samsung Galaxy Ace’s price and another reason for this choice is the specifications.
