Comparison – Nokia N9 Vs HTC Sensation [Detailed Review]

Do you want to buy Nokia N9 or HTC Sensation? Yes, then you need to read this cut throat competition between these two super sizzling phones. Nokia N9 is believed to have started the new era of smartphones while HTC Sensation has been rocking the world.

Nokia N9 is a product of the largest mobile seller in India – Nokia while HTC Sensation is the product of HTC, for which everything directly or indirectly means quality, reliability and looks! I am also not denying the fact that Nokia has ruffled somebody’s feather but I “personally” think that the “brand wise” HTC is better than Nokia. Let us see what both these phones do in the head on comparison which goes like this –

Nokia N9 Vs HTC Sensation

 Operating System

Operating System is generally written as OS. OS is something which is really complicated so I don’t want to discomfit you by going into the deep roots of this topic but I am going to tell you one nail on the head thing that it is operating system of a mobile phone which decides almost everything. From the types of music, types of image and even the type of videos you are going to have. OS is very important but most of use overlook it and hence repay later.

Nokia N9 is running on MeeGo v1.2 Harmattan. MeeGo is not new but the apps and the awareness about this OS is less than that of Android. HTC Sensation is installed with Android v2.3 Gingerbread which is probably the most used OS in the new generation smartphones. So the results are clear.

 Winner – HTC Sensation

 Processor and Performance

Do you want unleashed performance? Yes, then you need to have a powerful processor which can juggle your work easily. People aren’t too much aware about the latest types of processor so they don’t pay much attention on it while buying but this is where they lag behind. Processor is the major part of a mobile phone which must be considered before buying.

Nokia N9 is powered with 1GHz Cortex A8 CPU, with OMAP 3630 chipset. HTC Sensation is powered with 1.2 GHz dual-core processor with Qualcomm MSM 8260 Snapdragon. The difference between clock speed of both the phones is large and but the chipsets used are almost similar to each other so you guess is right, HTC clean sweeps this!

 Winner – HTC Sensation

 Price on Pocket

After knowing a bit about the performance and OS let’s come to the price. Both the phones are newly released so there are lots of misleading price rates floating on web. The price of HTC Sensation and Nokia N9 is yet to be released but as expected Nokia will be keeping its price a bit lower than that of HTC Sensation because Nokia N9 is proving lesser features than

HTC Sensation so they can’t price it more than HTC Sensation. The “expected” price of Nokia N9 is about Rs.20,000 or $445 and the “expected price of HTC Sensation is Rs.21,000-Rs.23,000 or $466-$512.

 Winner – Nokia N9

 Camera Quality

If you are having a high price phone which you have recently bought from Finland but it lacks a camera then you are going to miss out a lot of the moments which could have been kept. Cameras sometimes become very important. The camera embedded, nowadays are do very fast clicking and have more pixel count. Some of them also provide you up with a flash.

Nokia N9 won’t let you miss those special moments as it has a powerful 8 MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics, autofocus, dual LED flash. Don’t you find it nice, then take this – it is also having a powerful secondary camera! HTC Sensation is powered with a whooping camera of same pixel count i.e. 8 MP and that too with autofocus, dual-LED flash but it lacks the “Carl Zeiss” optics.

Winner – Nokia N9

Video and Photography

Have you ever been despondent because you had missed an awesome shot which you wished to capture in a video? Yes, then the answer is here. Both the phones are equipped with super awesome video capturing capacities. You can record the videos with these awesome phones.

HTC Sensation allows you to record videos in full HD i.e. in 1080p at the speed of 30fps while Nokia N9 allows you to record videos only in HD i.e. 720p and but that too with the speed of 30 fps. Soon there will be a day when phones will create worm holes!

 Winner – HTC Sensation

 Dreambloggers Verdict

Both the phones were “almost” equivalent to each other but HTC Sensation had an edge on almost everything. I have also mentioned earlier in the post that according to “me” HTC is better than Nokia so personally I think that Nokia N9 needs to do a workout to box with HTC Sensation. HTC Sensation is meant for persons who are adventurous, sporty, music listeners, and of course the bloggers.

I tried my best to clear all the features, now the Choice is yours!

  1. I’m afraid that I have to disagree with you on the OS. ofc HTC Sensation OS looks pretty etc, but it eats power like a boss and lags even with a dual-core processor. N9 OS is much newer technology and the apps won’t define that Android is better than MeeGo.

And secondly. Why would HTC Sensation be better with dual-core processor if the phone can’t use it so well ? N9 doesn’t lag, Sensation does = one core is enough

  2. android mobile phones used more battery and it reach to its finanl low battery when used about 4 or more hours
nokia do have a very good battery backup and the new meego would be interesting to
from my point of view n9 is the winner

I love Windows Phone. Given that, I’d also love to sit down with the N9 and the Sea Ray to compare them. I think engadget should do an article on “N9 vs. Sea Ray” or something of that sort.
