Nokia 500 Vs BlackBerry Torch 9860 – Rivalry Starts!

Nokia and Blackberry are two different shores of a river which will never meet. Nokia is one of the greatest rivals of Blackberry as Nokia mobiles attract more people than the Blackberry, but that’s something contrary as in today’s mobile market Blackberry is the golden bird. Blackberry produce phones which are generally meant for businessmen/women but you can use their phone even for the entertainment use! On the hand Nokia phones are famous worldwide for their reliability and features.

Nokia 500 and BlackBerry Torch 9860 are the latest releases from both the companies and they both are expected to rock the Indian phone market. BlackBerry Torch 9860 is a touch and type phone and Nokia 500 is a full touch phone.Let’s see what happens when these phones have a head on.

Nokia 500 vs Blackberry Storm

Operating System

OS is a vital part of a phone and it must be considered a prominent and important factor while buying a phone. Generally people ignore the OS but sooner or later they repent. OS of Nokia 500 is Symbian Anna which is getting quite popular nowadays.

On the other hand BlackBerry Torch 9860 is having  BlackBerry OS 7 which is used in Blackberry phones only. Being popular is something really important as popular OS’s will have more apps.

Winner – Nokia 500

Processor and Performance

Processor is second most important factor which must be considered while buying a phone. Processor of any phone plays an important role in increasing the processing speed of a phone. Nokia 500 is powered with a un-named  1 GHz processor and BlackBerry Torch 9860 is having a 1.2 GHz processor which is quite powerful and I think power matters.

Winner – BlackBerry Torch 9860

Storage and Capacity

Storage capacity of a phone is really useful as it allows you to store the videos and photos of your friends and relatives. Internal memory of Nokia 500 is 2 GB which can be further expanded to 32 GB via microSD card.

On the other hand storage capacity of BlackBerry Torch 9860 is 4 GB internal and expandable up to 32 GB. Expandable memories are same but internal memories are quite different.

Camera and Filmography

Camera is an inevitable part of a phone. Everyone, nowadays, need a special camera which can cater his/her need of a good and powerful digital camera.  Camera of Nokia 500 is a 5 MP camera which is quite powerful and all the same Nokia 500 provides you features like geo-tagging.

On the other hand BlackBerry Torch 9860 is having a camera of same resolution i.e. 5 MP with features like autofocus and geo-tagging. There is no secondary camera in both the phones.

Video and Filmography

Video making is an art which “used to” require lots of money but nowadays any one can learn it at really cheap rates. Nowadays, even the mobiles allow you to shoot videos. Nokia 500 allows you to shoot videos of VGA quality at the speed of 15 fps but on the other hand BlackBerry Torch 9860 allows you to shoot HD videos of resolution 720p. Videos shot in large resolutions are far better than those shot in smaller resolution.

Winner – BlackBerry Torch 9860

Price on Pocket

Price is the foremost thing which is considered. Price of phones produced nowadays is moderately cheap but exceptions are there. Price of Nokia 500 is yet not released but it’s expected to be Rs.9,500 or $215.

The price is expected to be so cheap because many people believe that Nokia 500 will revolutionize the pricing system.  On the other hand price of BlackBerry Torch 9860 is expected to be somewhere around Rs.15,000 or $335.

Winner – Depends upon budget

Dreambloggers Verdict

Both the phones are amazing and sizzling. Looks of both the phones are self defining and they are expected to revolutionize the mobile world. But I think BlackBerry Torch 9860 is better than Nokia 500, if price is not considered. On the hand I think Nokia 500 is the best choice for people who wants a phone with amazing features at really cheap rate.

  1. This comparison is a bit vague. On what ground were the phones based? New phones? Also, on the price section the winner should’ve been the Nokia 500, definitely NOT depending on budget. Somehow I get the feeling that this comparison is just to show the 500’s downsides. A hundred dollar difference. Wow.

  2. Nowadays, both the Nokia as well as black berry mobiles are rocking in this world. At the time, it’s too costly phones on here :)

  3. i like the nokia, good service and strong set

  4. perhaps you are right in saying that “Also, on the price section the winner should’ve been the Nokia 500, definitely NOT depending on budget” but this was not at all meant to show downsides of Nokia 500 after all its really good.. isn’t it.. ?
