5 Best Gaming Laptops of Year 2011 [Gaming Beasts Specs]

It is with pride that I always admit freely and whole-heartedly that I am a computer gamer. World of Warcraft, Doom, Halo; you name it I’ve played it. There is nothing in the world quite like doing battle with both friends and strangers and even the computer itself to determine who has dominance. Of course, every true gamer has got to have the best equipment that money can buy and, with no further ado, I present to you my top 5 gaming laptops of 2011!

Alienware M17x

For anyone who knows anything about gaming machines, the name of Alienware is well-known and respected. These machines are top of the line and some of the best that money can buy. Own an Alienware computer and you, as a gamer, demand respect. This laptop, thankfully, carries on that proud tradition.

One big issue that laptop gamers always complain about is that the audio is always set too low. This, assuredly, is not the case here. The speakers do not just seek attention, they demand it! The laptop also, most importantly, performs well under stress and can play even the most graphically demanding game at its highest settings. One problem I had been that the machine’s battery ran out quite fast. Still, so long as you have easy access to a plug that need not concern you.

Falcon Northwest is another giant in the world of computer gaming. Their machines look incredible and perform even better. Such is the case for the golden boy TLX laptop. Performance is, of course, not a problem with this machine and it’s 4GB of RAM make it capable of taking anything you throw at it. The only concern is that the video card, while acceptable, could be rendered obsolete shortly down the line. Still, all in all, should you want one of the best; this laptop is well worth the money.

Yet another Alienware computer steps up to the plate and, like the one before, it’s a knockout of a machine. This computer is obviously custom-built for those who like to get out of house. The battery life is spectacular and it handles like a dream. One concern is that the hardware is rather lacking, which keeps it out of the top spot. Still, it is a LAN gamers dream and I heartily recommend it.

This computer was a serious dark horse in the competition. It arrived with little fanfare, in a mundane looking machine. Turn it on, however, and you are blown away by its hidden power. This machine has an absolutely massive screen, 18.4 inches, and the audio is quite impressive as well. So was its 2 video cards, glorious Mobility Radeon HD 5870s. These babies could run anything. The only con I saw was that the hard drive was a little small for putting a ton of games on it, but that was only a tiny flaw; in short, a beautiful machine.

Falcon Northwest DLX

Another Falcon Northwest machine-made my top 5 and, honestly, can you blame me? These machines are beautiful, powerful and seriously sexy. This machine boasts a massive 17 inch screen that blew me with its graphics power. It also had three, count them, three hard drives that will support any game you feel ready to test it with. The downside to this, of course, is the fact that the battery life is quite limited, so make sure an outlet is always nearby. Besides that one downside, this laptop is an incredible gaming machine!

I’ve seen better machines from Kobalt Systems and Digital Storm, but these machines are awesome in every way. Even so, why included that Falcon Northwest since it has last years GPU?
