The most awaited OS of the year – Android v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) has just buzzed the web once again but this time the subject was not its launch dates, the names of devices on which it’s going to be used but the announcement of Sony Ericsson which clearly mentioned that they will be using Android v4.0 in all their Xperia phones sold.
This news has come when Sony Ericsson was working at its peak hours, no one can forget the success achieved by its phones like Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray, Neo, Arc, Play etc. Sony Ericsson has probably taken this step to firstly ensure its users that they are still alive and can easily compete with giants like Apple, HTC and Samsung. And secondly to tell that its users don’t need to buy phones like Google Nexus 2 which will have Android v4.0 but they can simply update their phone’s OS.
Sony Ericsson phones are generally not meant for youth but this step indicates that Sony Ericsson is looking forward to target the youth of India and believe me the craze of phones in Indian youth, now, is at its peak! You can feel it. Sony Ericsson has cleared that they will update all their Xperia series OS’ from Android v2.3.4 to Android v4.0, which is expected to support even greater amount of apps, and all the same it’s also expected that Android v4.0 will be “better” than iOS 5.0!
The things which will give Android v4.0 an edge over all its predecessors are USB on-the-go, Sony 3D sweep panorama for the camera, even better Facebook integration, Swype-like text input (T9 Trace), integrated screen capture, video chats via Google Talk and many more of them! The first ever Android v4.0 studded Xperia phones are expected to get released in the October and November this year. Other features which Android v4.0 will support are – Virtual Camera Operator, USB hub support, etc.
