How To Install CyanogenMod 7 Gingerbread on HP Touchpad

Hewlett Packard or HP is doing a great and notational job. HP this year in July launched HP Touchpad which was “expected” to be a boom for HP and curse for Apple but something contrary happened. HP Touchpad is having some really adorable features but they are over-shadowed by its operating system i.e. WebOS v3.0.

HP was expecting that HP Touchpad will see a whooping response from public because of its great features but because of its price and as I have already mentioned its OS, it failed. HP Touchpad is priced at $99, now, but previously it was priced at the same cost at which Apple iPad 2 is priced. This was perhaps the biggest obstacle in the way of success for HP.

But now it’s the time for a change; HP has decided to bring its price down and make HP Touchpad available to the public at cheaper price and with better quality OS. HP has decided to replace WebOS v3.0 from HP Touchpads with Android v2.3 (Gingerbread). All the new HP Touchpad’s are embedded with Android v2.3 and for those people who purchased it when it was studded with WebOS, I am going to teach you how to install Android on your HP Touchpad. The tutorial goes like this –

Steps to Follow

Step 1 – Download Universal Novacom Installer and then install it on your computer.

Step 3 – Now open the CM Install folder and extract the files from ACME Installer to C:/ Palm, Inc. Wait till the extraction completes

Step 4 – After the extraction work is done, just connect HP Touchpad with your computer and select USB drive mode on Touchpad.

Step 5 – Now as you have gain the access to Touchpad file system, create a folder named as cminstall and create this folder in the root not in sub-directory.

Step 6 – Now as soon as you finish the above step, copy the CM 7 , ClockworkMod Recovery and Moboot zip files from the CM Install folder to the cminstall folder.

Step 7 – Now just eject the Touchpad volume from your computer but don’t detach it from your computer.

Step 8 – Now, just tap launch DeviceInfo and then simply tap Reset option. After this, perform a restart.

Step 9 – Now as soon as you see the orb revolving in the middle of your Touchpad screen, just press and hold the volume up key.

Step 10 – Hold it until you see the USB symbol on your screen.

Step 11 – Now open cmd, and type C:\ cd Program Files followed typing cd Plam, Inc.

Step 12 – After coming in the Palm Inc. directory enter novacom boot mom:// < ACMEInstaller and then again press enter.

Step 13 – As soon as you will press enter you will see tons of commands scrolling on the screen of your Touchpad.  Just wait and let the activity end.

Step 14 – After the end of this activity you will see your Touchpad rebooting again, let it reboot and when it will start again you will see a HP logo accompanied by Moboot booting options in blue.

Step 15 – Now using volume keys select the CyanogenMod and press home button to execute it. Once it gets booted up you will get the CyanogenMod 7 on your HP Touchpad.
