How to Install Custom ROM Sensation ROM on Samsung Galaxy S 2? [Tutorial]

Android is fun with Custom ROMs, We tried good number of ROMs on our Samsung Galaxy S II. You can find the list of already tried and tested ROMs in our previous article. Today we downloaded and tested another great custom ROM i.e. Sensation ROM.

Sensation ROM is available at XDA Developers Forums. In this article, We will learn how to install Sensation custom ROM in SGS II.

But before installing any custom ROM in your phone, your phone must be rooted. If your Android phone is not rooted, please check How to root Samsung Galaxy S II in 5 minutes?

After the completion of Rooting, follow the steps defined here


  • Download Kernel and Custom ROM i.e. Sensation ROM.
  • You need Odin v1.85 for flashing the kernel in Samsung Galaxy S II. You can find the download link for Odin in our rooting tutorial article.
  • Do Install Samsung Kies in your PC.
  • Please make sure your phone is charged more than 60%.
  • Do not disconnect or interrupt your device while the installation is in progress.
  • Never forget to take backup of your phone.

How to Install Sensation ROM in Samsung Galaxy S II?


Flash the kernel. Extract the Zip file (kernel zip file). For flashing switch off your Samsung Galaxy S II and restart it with the following key combination

Volume Down + Home Key + Power off Button

This press the volume up button and this will bring your phone in Download Mode. Now connect your phone with PC via USB and wait till the drivers are being installed.

Open Odin Now, if your drivers are properly installed you will the ID and COM Number in the ID:COM field of Odin.

Configure Odin Like thisClick on second button (PDA) and choose the extracted file and make sure none other F.Reset Time and Auto Reboot is ticked. Click on the Start button.

Be patient and wait for the process to complete. Now remove your phone from PC.


Its time to install the custom ROM now, copy the zip file (Sensation ROM) into root folder of your phone’s memory.

Switch off your phone and now restart it with the following key combination:

Volume UP + Home Key + Power off button

This will bring your phone in Clockwork Recovery mode. Now you are in recovery mode, your touchscreen will not function and you need to perform all the required tasks using volume up/down, home key and power off button.

If you want, you can take backup of the current ROM, by choosing backup and restore option in Clockwork Recovery Mode.

After the completion of backup, come back to the main menu and choose “Wipe Data/Factory Reset” and choose “Yes”.

Then choose “Wipe Cache Partition” and choose “Yes”.

Then Go to Advanced option and choose “Wipe Dalvik Cache” and choose “Yes”.

Revert back to the main menu and choose “Install Zip from SD Card” and then choose “choose Zip from SD Card” and directories will be listed and you have to choose the Sensation ROM zip file and then choose “Yes”.

Please wait while the installation process in progress. After the process will complete, press the power off button once to go back to the main menu and choose “Reboot System Now”.

Now your handset is running on Sensation ROM. Enjoy :)
