Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs HTC Rezound – The Smartphone War Begins [Price & Features]

HTC and Samsung are the hardcore competitors of the phone market today. Both of them are working on their ways of working, pricing, launching etc and are trying to optimize them. This will eventually help their company to prosper and provide better material to us.

In this war of phones, HTC has announced the features of HTC Rezound which is the first ever phone to have a good quality music system, and on the other hand Samsung announced the features of the much awaited Ice-Cream Sandwich phone – Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Both the phones are amazing and companies might have faced arduous obstacles while creating them. Now, let us see what HTC Rezound and Samsung Google Nexus has got for us. Let the smartphone war begin.

 

Samsung Galaxy Nexus vs HTC Rezound

Form Factor

HTC Rezound is a quite big phone with dimensions measuring up to 129 x 65.5 x 13.7 mm. On the other hand Samsung Galaxy Nexus is even larger, it measures around 129 x 65.5 x 13.7 mm. Samsung Galaxy Nexus has even got the oleophobic surface and touch-sensitive controls which will give it an edge – definitely.

Processor

Samsung Galaxy Nexus – Dual-core 1.2GHz Cortex-A9 CPU

HTC Rezound – 1.5 GHz dual-core Scropion processor

The clock speed of the processors of both the phones is dashing, but the more means better. HTC Rezound though has got the more clock speed, but the overclock speed of both the phones is still not released. HTC Rezound is having the Qualcomm MSM 8660 Snapdragon chipset while the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has got the TI OMAP 4460 chipset.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus – Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 4.65inch

HTC Rezound – S-LCD capacitive touchscreen, 4.3inch

The screen size of both the phones is quite large. The large screen size doesn’t mean that they phone is better because it gradually affects the battery life, clarity etc. But there is nothing like this with these two phones. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus has got larger screen size than that of HTC Rezound and there is hardly any difference between the pixel density.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy Nexus – 5 MP, 2592×1936 pixels

HTC Rezound – 8 MP, 3264×2448 pixels

The camera quality of HTC Rezound seems to be really good, but the camera quality of Samsung Galaxy Nexus is not bad too. Both the phones support features like touch focus, geo-tagging, face detection but what’s extra in HTC Rezound is instant capture , image stabilization, dual-LED flash etc. HTC Rezound has even got a 2MP secondary camera while Samsung Galaxy Nexus has got 1.3MP camera.

Operating System

Samsung Galaxy Nexus – Android v4.0 (Ice-Cream Sandwich)

HTC Rezound – Android v2.3(Gingerbread) or Android v4.0(Ice-Cream Sandwich)

According to some sites, HTC Rezound will have Android v2.3(Gingerbread) but according to the others it will have Android v4.0 (Ice-Cream Sandwich). No official clarification has been done. So this will remain a mystery for quite long. If it will have Ice-Cream Sandwich then it will be a tie but if it will have Gingerbread than Samsung Galaxy Nexus will clean sweep this category.

Data Connectivity

Samsung Galaxy Nexus supports data connectivity features like 3G, 2G, EDGE, GPRS, USB, WLAN, Bluetooth etc. On the other hand the HTC Rezound supports only 3G,2G, WLAN, Bluetooth and USB. It doesn’t support EDGE and GPRS.

Memory

Samsung Galaxy Nexus – 16/32GB storage, 1 GB RAM

HTC Rezound – 16 GB storage, 1 GB RAM

The memory of both the phones is same, internal. But the Samsung Galaxy Nexus even comes in a 32GB internal memory version, to tackle this HTC Rezound is capable of expanding its memory. The expandable memory of HTC Rezound is 32GB via microSD card. The RAM of both the phones is same too.

Battery

Battery life of Samsung Galaxy Nexus and HTC Rezound is good. HTC Rezound is having Li-Ion 1620 mAh battery while Samsung Galaxy Nexus is having more powerful Li-Ion 1750 mAh battery. No further details in this category have been released by the companies of both phones.

Price

Both the phones aren’t released so we can just guess their price. The expected price of Samsung Galaxy Nexus is somewhere around Rs.35,000 and the expected price of HTC Rezound is same. Both the phones are expected to be priced at same price but the better will survive the phone market conditions.

Dreambloggers Verdict

We think that both the phones are really good. They have almost same specifications. But if I had to buy I phone, between these two, I would have gone with Samsung Galaxy Nexus perhaps because Samsung is easily available, cheaper, etc. Keep all these factors in mind and make your choice.
